El Rapido

This week I went back to El Rapido, a nice little restaurant and deli that I have visited many times in previous semesters to eat something delicious. This is a tiny place in Kazinczy utca that is perfect if you want to search for Mexican ingredients, beverages, or even if you just want to drop in for a mouthwatering taco, burrito, or quesadilla.

This deli is relatively small compared to the others I introduced, because it is primarily a small restaurant. On the other hand, I find it very inspiring, because they make the food on a hot-plate counter, so the visitors can actually see how the special meals are made, and then, maybe try to make them at home.

Delicacies in this shop include many types of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. What is the first spirit that comes into your mind when I say Mexico? I bet it's Tequila! In this shop you can find more than 10 types of tequila that you can serve with a hot tortilla. And if you are looking for something less strong, you can go for the many Spanish and Mexican beers. Also, for those who do not drink alcohol, there is a drink that is definitely worth to try out: a special refresher made with Aloe Vera pieces that is very healthy and hydrating on a searing summer day.

Other specialties include a variety of special chili sauces imported right from South-American countries. You can find many types of salsa made from tomatoes and avocadoes. Also, if you would like to use some Mexican food bases, you can find here some seasoned canned beans and other canned goods that you may use of your Mexican style lunch or dinner.

If you are looking for some tortilla chips with sauces, of course you can find the regular ones here, but you can also buy them in any supermarket.

All in all, I think El Rapido is a very nice little place to visit, where you can both buy delicious ingredients and try out the spicy wonders of Mexican cuisine. It is really worth to try their wonderful burrito, as well. Just be careful, it's super spicy!
